What this site is
CyberSec24 reviews the security products that ordinary households and very small businesses actually buy: hardware firewalls, WiFi routers with real security features, and the software layer around them (VPNs, password managers, antivirus, smart-home cameras). The audience is the person who wants a safe home network without becoming a network engineer.
The site has existed on this domain since 2017. In July 2026 it was rebuilt from scratch — new catalogue, new scoring, new guides — because most of the products the old site covered no longer exist (see what happened to CUJO, Akita, RATtrap and the other “smart firewall” boxes).
How we pick and score
- Hardware first. Our deepest coverage is Firewalla, GL.iNet, Ubiquiti, Protectli and the hardware-firewall category — the products with the widest gap between marketing and reality.
- Scores are ours. The 0–10 score and verdict on every review page are editorial. The star rating and count shown next to it are Amazon’s public customer rating at the time the price was checked, labelled as such — we never present them as our own data.
- Prices are checked, not live. Every product page shows the date its price was last verified. Prices move; the link goes to the live listing.
- Methodology is described on How We Test. If a page says something was measured, the number and the conditions are on that page.
How the site is funded
Affiliate commissions, mainly Amazon Associates (tag cybersec240e-20) and a small number of direct programs (currently NordVPN). We earn a commission if you buy through a link; you pay the same price. Rankings are never sold, and no manufacturer sees a review before it is published. Full policy: Affiliate disclosure.
Editorial voice
CyberSec24 is published under the site name rather than individual bylines. Every page carries a “last updated” date, and articles are revised in place when products, prices or firmware change — a rewrite is noted at the top of the affected page.
